Hydrovac excavation and hydro excavation for utility potholing, daylighting, and precise non-destructive digging near buried lines. Serving all of Oklahoma and surrounding states, including Enid and Oklahoma City.

Hydrovac & Hydro Excavation

━━━━

IronRock provides hydrovac excavation for utility potholing, daylighting, and other defined excavation work where controlled exposure of buried lines is requested. Hydrovac uses pressurized water to loosen soil and a vacuum system to remove the resulting material. It can be considered near existing utilities, subject to project requirements and site conditions.

How hydrovac excavation works

A hydrovac unit directs water into the work area to break up soil while vacuum equipment carries the loosened material into a debris tank. This process can create a targeted excavation to expose a buried utility or verify a location. The size, depth, equipment setup, and handling of excavated material depend on the work plan and field conditions.

Hydrovac does not replace utility locating, project procedures, or field coordination. No excavation method can guarantee that underground utilities will not be damaged. Locates, records, clearances, and communication with the project team remain essential.

When teams consider hydro excavation

A project team may consider hydrovac where it needs a controlled excavation near known utilities or needs to expose a line for verification. The method may be useful for:

  • Utility potholing to expose a specific location for project coordination.

  • Daylighting to visually verify a buried utility at an excavation point.

  • Work in constrained areas where access and the required excavation dimensions can accommodate the equipment.

Hydrovac is not right for every location or soil condition. The project team should select an excavation method after reviewing the plans, ground conditions, utility information, access, and required work area.

Information for a hydrovac quote

To help review the work, provide the project address, utility records or locate information, requested pothole locations, approximate depth and dimensions, site access limits, material handling requirements, and target schedule. Include available drawings and any project-specific safety or documentation requirements.

Serving Oklahoma and nearby states

IronRock serves hydrovac projects throughout Oklahoma and surrounding states, including Enid and Oklahoma City. Availability and mobilization depend on project location, scope, access, and schedule.

Coordinate your excavation request

Contact IronRock with the project details and the locations where utilities need to be exposed. The team can review the request and coordinate scope and next steps with your project representatives.

Frequently asked questions

What is hydrovac excavation?

Hydrovac excavation uses pressurized water to loosen soil while a vacuum system removes the resulting material. It can support utility potholing and daylighting where crews need to expose buried lines for a project. The planned method depends on site conditions and project requirements.

When is hydrovac used instead of a backhoe?

Hydrovac may be considered near existing utilities or in areas where controlled excavation is needed. It is not right for every site, and the contractor should select equipment based on the plans, ground conditions, access, and utility clearances.

Does hydrovac eliminate the risk of utility damage?

No excavation method can guarantee that utilities will not be damaged. Utility records, locating, project procedures, and careful field coordination remain important.

What should I provide for a hydrovac quote?

Share the work location, utility information, requested pothole or excavation locations, approximate depth and dimensions, access limits, material handling requirements, and schedule.
